Course Description

This course provides an applications oriented study of statistical concepts and techniques. The course focuses on the student as a user of statistics who needs a minimal understanding of mathematical theory and formula derivation to understand the statistical concepts and theory presented, the construction and use of statistical models for business management applications and solutions to management problems will be stressed. Topics include descriptive statistics, estimation, hypothesis testing, ANOVA, Chi Square, regression and multiple regression analysis and model building. Students will learn techniques used for relational analysis and business forecasting and how to apply them in a business context. Students will learn from case studies that emphasize the theme of business improvement, and real applications of statistics that are relevant to today’s business environment . A variety of computer centered examples and exercises, and a robust, technology-based ancillary package are designed to help students master this subject.
