This course provides a comparative introduction to the major concepts and themes of political science. Using concrete analytical examples students will be engaged in critical thinking about politics as the exercise of choice, the effect of religion on politics, monarchies, theocracy in Iran and Iraq, terrorism and its impact on global politics, constraints and conditions for public policy, constitutions and guarantees of rights, voting, democracy as a range of possibilities, social movements, and other contemporary topics.
